Abstract / Excerpt:
Objective: The purpose of the study is to know the relationship between maternal factors affecting the incidence of oropalatal malformation.
Methodology: This study made use of the expost facto design.
Conclusions: That the various factors that were considered as causative agents in the formation of oropalatal malformation exert their influence in varying degrees. But as the factors were taken in its cummulative effect, their influence is far greater as compared to a single factor taken separately. The socio-economic status of most respondents fall at or below poverty line, as claimed and assumed. The educational attainment of the majority of the respondents falls in the elementary level as claimed and gathered. This factor greatly influenced the totality of the mothers' habits and attitudes. Public awareness on healthful habits and practices among the respondents as well as the significant persons in their environment is not adequate.
