Management practices of the feedlot fattening of Sarangani Agricultural Company, Inc.

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objective: To know the management practices of a large scale feedlot fattening.

Methodology: The method used in the data gathering involved the actual observation in the feedlot's daily activities as well as interview with the office personel, supervisors, and cowboys. This was conducted from April 16 to May 28, 1986 in the company farm based in Buayan, Alabel, South Cotabato.

Conclusions: The management is able to control and monitor the nutrition intake of the feeder cattle but they have drawback in the kind of ration they give to its cattle. They give the feeder stocks with higher percentage ration of forage and less percentage ration of concentrates. Improvement of quality of the beef meat is dependent on the ration given.
