Abstract / Excerpt:

This is an undergraduate thesis entitled "Level of Sexual Awareness among College Students: As Basis for Sex Education" conducted at Ateneo de Davao University. The study was conducted with 91 respondents from the following four schools: College of Engineering and Architecture, School of Business and Governance, School of Arts and Sciences, and College of Nursing. The Science of Unitary and Irreducible Human Beings Theory of Martha Rogers was used in the study. The proponents of the study conducted a research which generally aims to and out the level of sexual awareness among the college students of Ateneo de Davao University as well as how the age, gender and religion of the respondents affect the level of sexual awareness. The proponents used a modified survey questionnaire and utilized the different statistical tools such as Mean, T-test and One-way Annova. The important findings of the study may be summarized as follows: The findings of the study revealed that on the three components of sex education which are the sexual development and reproduction, contraceptives and birth control, and relationships, the college students of Ateneo de Davao University are more aware on the components sexual development and reproduction and relationships. Their low awareness on the component contraceptives and birth control affect their overall level of sexual awareness. It also revealed that there is no significant difference on their level of sexual awareness when grouped according to age and gender, but there is a significant difference on the level of sexual awareness of the Catholics and Non-Catholics.
