Abstract / Excerpt:

This study entitled "level of awareness and health practices among homosexuals" was conducted to determine the relationship between the level of awareness and health practices of homosexuals in Davao City. The method used in this study was non-experimental correlation study. A quantitative and qualitative survey design was utilized to measure the level of awareness homosexuals particularly in the City of Davao. The result of the study showed that there is no significant relationship between the level of awareness and health practices among homosexuals. Standardized questionnaires were used as a form to gather all the necessary information's regarding the relationship between the level of awareness and health practices of homosexuals. In order to quantify the data obtained, the researchers used Pearson R. The results showed that there is no relationship between the level of awareness and health practices of homosexuals when analyzed according to knowledge and applied health practices. The result showed good level of awareness among homosexuals and a fair rating for health practices. There is only a low degree of correlation between the two variables. The researchers recommend this study to government health institutions for improvement in their system regarding promotion of health. To NGOs/ CSOs, the study will be of help to their further studies and programs. And finally, to the homosexual community, this study will aid them to know if their knowledge or awareness affects their health practices.
