Summary of Findings: Background Characterisitics of the Respondents. Majoirty of the ages of the respondents fall under 20 to 29 years old(54.2%) and have the average of 27 years, generally indicating that the respondents are in their midtwenties. Majority are Roman Catholics(79.2%), reached high school(57.7%), with an average number of 2.8 children, and majority of them (83.3%) were not working. Among the 20 respondents who were working 55% were employee and 90% worked permanently. Majority of the respondent's husbands' were working mainly as construction workers(39.8%). Infant Feeding Practice. The age of the respondent's last aby ranged from 1 to 12 months. Half of them belonged to the 1 to 4 months(50.8%) and have an average age of 5.2 months. Supplemental Food of Last Baby. Most of them introduced first solid food when the baby is 5 to 7 months(50.7%). Majority of them introduced processed cereal as first solid food(56.5%). Role of Place of Delivery and Attendant at Birth. Majority of the respondents delivered their baby in the hospital(47.3%) which also shows that out of 57 respondents who delivered in the hospital. almost half(43.8%) practiced breastfeeding, the person who delivered the baby were attended by a physician (47.5%). Role of Selected Variables in the Practice of Infant Feeding. There were more mothers who delivered their babies in the clinic(79.3%), whose birth attendant is "hilot" (90.6%), aging 19 years and below(93.3%), with elementary education(89.3%), and those reporting total monthly household income of P1,000 to P2,999(95.1%) who breastfed their babies. those who delivered in the clinic tended to practice breastfeeding. The high proportion of mothers practicing breastfeeding attended by "hilots" can be explained by the personal reasons established by hilots to their clients and being a member of the community where the mothers reside. The findings on the high proportion of 19 years old and below mothers tended to breastfeed seems to confirm the findings.
