Abstract: The main objective of the paper is to provide a baseline information regarding selected population characteristics of Holothuroids. Specifically the paper aimed to: identify the species of Holothuroids in four sampling areas in Lianga Bay; to determine the dominant species; the coefficient of similarity; the population density; species diversity of the Holothuroids; and to further determine if there is a significant difference in the population density and species diversity of Holothuroids among the stations. The study included the collection and identification of holothuroid species up to the family level at least. Sampling areas were selected based on topography, habitat type, and accessibility. Data gathered were derived from ten 1x1 m quadrat randomly thrown within the designated 10,000 square meters sampling area. Comparison of characteristics among sampling stations was done with the use of one way ANOVA. The identified species are the following: Bohadschia marmorata vitiensis, Bohaschia sp., Holothuria sp., Polycheira rufencens, Holothuria (Cytipus) inhabilis (Selenka), Synapta maculata, Bohadschia argus, Holothuria scabra, Bohadschia sp., Bohadschia marmorata (Jaeger), Actinopyg echinites, Bohadschia sp., Stichopus horrens (Selenka), Holothuria nobilis, Holothuria hilla, Bohadschia sp., Actinopyga miliaris, Bohadschia coluber (Semper), Holothuria kluzingeri, Holothuria fuscopunctata, Holothuria (metriatyla) scabra (Jaeger), Holothuria atra, Bohadschia sp., Holothuria edulis, Holothuria nobilis (Selenka), Stichopus variegatus (Semper), Bohadschia graeffei, Holothuria pervicax, Holothuria axiolaga, and Holothuria acanthropeza coluber (Semper). In terms of population density, station II had the highest density, followed by station III, station IV, and station I. The huluthroid species found to be a dominant in terms of density is Holothuria (Cypitus) inhabilis (selenka) with an average number of 156 individuals.
