Formal structural empowerment in hospital X

Abstract / Excerpt:

The study entitled "Foam! Structural Empowerment in Hospital X" was conducted to determine the presence of the determinant factors of Formal Structural Empowerment in Hospital X. The data includes the respondents' demographic profile which were gathered, determined and described. The three factors of Formal Structural Empowerment namely job flexibility, job creativity and job visibility were also determined. The study was a non-experimental descriptive of type research. The researchers formulated a self-made questionnaire derived from the definition of the factors found in the theory as defined by Rosabeth Kanter as research tool. The questionnaire was divided into two (2) Parts. The first part was intended for determining the profile of the respondents in terms of age, civil status and their length of service. The second part was composed of 21 closed-ended questions/statements with the use of Likert's Scale as a measurement of evaluation and determination of the determinant factors of Formal Structural Empowerment practiced in Hospital X. Eighty-five (85) respondents were surveyed from the list of employed regular nurses in Hospital X mixed purposeful sampling and dependent upon the volunteerism and availability of the respondents. The survey was conducted by authorized personnel of the nursing service department of the hospital. All the departments were surveyed to ensure that all the nursing departments were represented in the survey. In analyzing the data gathered, it was found that majority of the staff nurses were between 21-25 years old, female, single and were employed within the range of 1-10 years in the hospital. It was also found that among the three determinant factors of Formal Structural Empowerment, Job Creativity ranked highest, Job Flexibility ranked second and Job Visibility ranked lowest.
