Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: (1) to find the potential of the durian seeds as a source of fixed oils, (2) to know the basic information on the quantity and composition of the fixed oil in the durian seeds by physical and chemical analyses, (3) to determine the possible economic value of the fixed oil through the properties that it exhibits.
Methodology: Two extraction procedures were employed in extracting the fixed oil (1) Soxhlet extraction process (2) Cold extraction process. It is calculated using the formulate of Osborne and Voogt (1978: 155-156).
