Abstract / Excerpt:

Abstract: This study aimed to improve the low achievement of the Grade Four pupils in Mathematics as revealed by the result of the National Diagnostic Test conducted last July, 2002. The analysis of the result showed that the Least Learned Competencies was in fraction concepts and comparison of fraction. An In-service Training was conducted and focuesd on the percieved strategy effective on introducing fractions concepts, entitled Innovative Teaching Strategies in Mathematics. A demonstration teaching on Ordering Fractions wasi ncluded in this training. This was followed by the actual classroom teaching following the Experiential Learning Approach.
