Abstract / Excerpt:
This study was done in order to know the experiences of 15 women survivors of violence on Davao Central 911 Emergency Response. It focused on their socio-economic profile and analyzed their experiences on Davao Central 911. It also presented the problems they encountered with 911 and their recommendations regarding the same. Using the in-depth interview case method, the study found out that the common reason why the respondents called 911 is the fear of being abused because their partners are drunk or jealous. The respondents felt that they received fair treatment form 911. They were also informed of their rights as well as the services, assistance and facilities available to them. However, problems like slow response, rude police officers, operator asking too many questions and no response at all also came out in the study. The respondents expressed a general satisfaction with the emergency response of 911 and signified that they will still call again should they be in emergency situations in the future. The findings of the study, however, are not in any way conclusive, thus further more-in-depths studies are strongly encouraged.
