Effects of behavioral contract in improving academic performance in English

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: The main purpose of this study is to find out the effects of behavioral contract in improving the academic performance in English by high school sophomores in Notre Dame of Mlang, school year 1987-1988.
Methodology: The experimental control group pre-test post-test design was used in this study.
Conclusions: (1) The effect of behavioral contract in improving the academic performance of the poor achievers in English is significant. (2) The poor achievers in the control group who do not have follow-up and special attention tend to deteriorate in their academic performance. (3) The change in the academic performance of the students who were counseled is very different from those who were not counseled. Those who were counseled showed a significant improvement while those who were not counseled did not show any improvement. (4) The male poor achievers achieve just as much as the female poor achievers. (5) The effect of behavioral contract on both males and females is the same.
