Abstract / Excerpt:
Objectives: This study aims to measure analytically the level of phosphate of Davao River water. The data obtained is compared with baseline data of the fresh water standard.
Methodology: Sampling was the method used by the researcher.
Conclusions: Based on the study, the phosphate level of Davao River is high and did not conform with the standard limit set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency which is 100 ug/L total phosphorus (as orthophosphate). Due to it's phosphate level, the Davao River water is capable of enriching the estuary which receives it. As nutrient loadings from the river accumulate in the estuary, the aging process 9eutrophication) of water is greatly accelerated.
