Abstract / Excerpt:

This course pack aims a). to strengthen the promotion of breastfeeding. b). to have a comprehensive breastfeeding training course for both health workers and nursing mothers; c). to provide current updates on breastfeeding. Specifically, it aim 1). to emphasize the advantages of breastfeeding over artificial feeding; 2). to compare well attached and poorly attached infant; 3). to illustrate the different positions during breastfeeding; 4). to identify the different conditions and their corresponding management that effect the practice of breastfeeding; 5). to recognize the causes of poor infant response on breastfeeding; 6). to illustrate and describe the steps of self-breast examination; 7). to demonstrate the ways of expressing breast milk; and 8). to know the importance of breastfeeding among the sick and low birth weight infants.
