Centralized processing for selected academic libraries in the Visayas : a feasibility study

Abstract / Excerpt:

Methodology: The descriptive method of research was used in the study, questionnaire was used, follow-up interviews of librarians, and observation of current practices in processing.
Conclusions: It seems that centralized processing is likely to be found feasible in the Visayas because of a number of positive factors favorable to the establishment of such a system. It would obviously be more economical for a library to simply pay a determined unit price for processing through the centralized method, than for each library to hire additional staff and provide the various requirements for processing. Generally, uniform processing procedures among the libraries surveyed could facilitate the development of centralized processing.
