Building blocks and academic achievement in kinder II math

Abstract / Excerpt:

ABSTRACT: The study determined the effect of playing blocks in teaching math particularly in counting, comparing, adding, and identifying odd or even numbers in the academic achievement of kinder II pupils at Davao Central High School, Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City, during the second and third grading periods of the School Year 2006-2007. The students who were taught using blocks had higher gain score than that of the students who were taught using the traditional method. The difference was statistically significant. The retention level between the control and experimental group was also determined by giving again the test used in pretest and posttest as reposttest. The experimental group had higher gain score than the control group but their difference was not statistically significant.
