Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: (1) to determine the socio-economic profile of the fisherman of Sitio Cemento, Barangay Talomo, Davao City; (2) to determine their income level; (3) to determine the production and marketing activities; (4) to determine their perceptions of life, their needs and aspirations.
Methodology: The descriptive survey method of research, utilizing the questionnaire as the main instrument was used in gathering the data for this study.
Conclusions: Based on the findings of the study, the researchers were able to draw the following conclusion: 1) That the majority of the Sitio Cemento fishermen are still on traditional form of living, pertaining to household possessions, etc.; 2) That the majority of the fishermen do not live conductively, since the survey returns on housing characteristics reflect that they built their houses on light materials as will as most of them do not have toilet facilities; 3) That majority of the fishermen are still on the state of technical obsolescence; 4) That there are no proper marketing techniques of the majority of the fishermen; 5) That most of the fishermen do not avail credits 6) That most of them perceive their life as a whole "happy" despite of economic instability.
