A survey of job satisfaction on media workers in Davao City proper

Methodology: A one-shot survey design and direct interview were used.

Summary/Conclusions: The study was conducted in Davao City proper. The study attempted to know the locals of mass media workers job satisfaction profile. There were 120 respondents to represent to represent types of mass media. Since radio, television, newspapers and advertising agency were viewed as basic elements for information dissemination, thereby, motivating factors for the people as their attitudes and opinions were greatly affected by their job satisfaction from radio, television, newspapers and advertising agency respectively. Demographic Characteristics. The survey presented that most of the respondents were males. As a result, 2 out of 8 were married and 5 out of 10 were single. On the other hand, only 3 out of 10 were single among the females. It was also manifested in the survey that almost all of the respondents were employers, and 2 out of 10 were respondents. Attitudes towards Works. The survey revealed that majority of the respondents have been working in mass media, 1 out of 4 were broadcasters and 3 out of 10 belongs to other field of mass media works such as camera person, technicians, field reporters. Eight out of 10 answered that their job demands a lot of time and effort. One out of five rated their income satisfaction as poor while majority were in the average level, meanwhile only 1 out of 3 were in the satisfactory level. The respondents' also revealed that 1 out of 3 agreed that the income they have received is enough to support their family while majority disagreed. Three-fifth or 6 out of 10 agreed they were satisfied with the renumeration package they get from their agency while 1 out of 4 disagreed. It was manifested that 1 out of 3 rated their job average while 2 out of 10 is in the satisfactory level. two out of eight has been working in Mass Media for a year, and 1 out of 2 for four years and above. Basing on encountered since they are in Mass Media was financial problem, that is 1 out of 4, relationship with co-workers lands the second reason.
