Abstract / Excerpt:

The Municipality of Tacurong today is a developing municipality of Sultan Kudarat Province, serving as the center of commerce and trade, education and recreation, and its main thrust is to become an agro-industrial center of the province. To realize these desired developments thrusts, the municipality has to face and surmount all the constraints, odds and challenges that will come up. Thus, this strategies plan is needed in order to face those challenges. The formulation of strategic plan involves the organization's most basic and important choices-the choice of its mission, vision, objectives, policies and strategies. It involves interrelated activities such as assessment of internal strengths and weaknesses, identification of opportunities and threats outside the organization, analysis of strategic factors, and selection of the alternative strategies. Internal assessment was done through organizational, operation and fiscal management review of the municipal government to identify its strengths and weaknesses. External analysis was done through the evaluation of strategic factors that pose opportunities and threats to the operation of the agency. The following are the strengths and weaknesses that have been identified during the internal assessment:

ORGANIZATION: Majority of the employees understands the essence of the vision and mission of the LGU, in spite of the fact that these statements were not displayed in the premises of the municipal hall. This is an indication that employees are fully aware of their functions and responsibilities that resulted to better working relationship. The department heads, with a single exception were noted to be aware of their responsibilities and were effective in the supervision and management of their respective departments. As a whole, the survey indicates that the official and rank and file of the LGU are highly intelligent and responsive to their.
