Abstract / Excerpt:

The study intends to determine the feasibility of a proposed integrated public terminal in Cotabato City. The specific objective of the study is to establish an integrated north and southbound terminal in the city. Transportation plays a vital role in the development of one's economy. We need it to go to work and goods and services will not be able to reach consumers unless they pass through channels of transportation, be it by land, water or air. It contributes to employment generation and it has a crucial role in tourism, since it links people traveling to different destinations. In the marketing aspect, a demand for the terminal in Cotabato was determined from the results of data gathered. Demands for the public utility vehicle such as van and buses were determined through projecting the total number of trips of one type of transport. Supplying the demands shown, the integrated public terminal will be able to sustain its operational cost due to its revenues from van, buses terminal fee and rental stall of the public terminal. The initial capital of the projected is P29,312,400.00 The payback period of the study is about 2 years and 1 month. The integrated public terminal will generate revenues through public utility vehicles provider of the city it will also collect monthly rental fees from the commercial space renters, public restroom usage and other terminal fee of the public utility vehicle. Revenues mean that another target market and cycle will be created. Therefore there will be socio-economic development in the city of Cotabato. In the present there is no public terminal in the city due to its dangerous reputations in the country but because of the framework agreement signed by the Government of the Philippines and GRP MILF, Cotabate os and Mindanawons are hopeful that life lasting peace could be attained. The proponents therefore concludes that the construction of integrated public terminal is deemed necessity given the demand and can establish tourism in Cotabato City and improve economic growth. It is therefore recommended that construction of integrated public terminal should be started immediately.
