Abstract / Excerpt:
The study wanted to describe and analyze the content and characteristics of RAN online gaming in terms of gender roles and possible gender biases. The study wanted to know if there are gender stereotypes present in the RAN online game in terms of game's character power and skill? If so, are the available game characters within RAN Online game a manifestation of gender biases? In striving to achieve an ample and comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, the study considered the possible influence and dimensions of a RAN online gaming and in the process identify the relationships between these dimensions and the stereotyping of women as the weaker gender. Specifically, the study aimed to answer the following questions: 1.) What are the gender stereotypes present in the RAN Online game in terms of the game characters powers and skills? 2.) What are the gender biases manifested in the RAN Online game in terms of the game characters?
