This ethnohistorical study is a descriptive account of the workings of the Maguindanao political and trading systems from 1663-1718. Dutch archival sources were used by the author who is a Dutch national. This book challenges Cesar Majul's decline theory of the Sultanate of Sulu with the death of Sultan Kudarat. It contends that based on Dutch archival sources the Sultanate consolidated its political and economic power with the demise of Sultan Kudarat. The author provides a matrix of the trade to and from Maguindanao Region. Also in PG.
