The article discusses the deteriorating peace and order situation in Sulu and points to the rise in criminality as the root cause. It examines briefly the following contributing factors to this situation: possession of loose firearms, low adjudication of cases by the courts, strong political rivalries and socioeconomic ills such as poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, ignorance, unsatisfactory health conditions and lack of good roads and adequate schools. It also proposed a plan for the solution of the problems.
