Discusses the issue and problems reportedly found to have prevented the socio-economic development of Maranao society. These are: (1) peace and order situation, (2) Maratabat, which means self-esteem and honor is strongly valued by Maranaos which seems to lead resistance to development and has tended to work against the creation of a larger polity, (3) in Maranao society, leaders or officials usually hold legal as well as traditional offices, and (4) role of education in contributing heavily to the development of Maranao society.
