Describes the emerging ways of life of the Sama-Laut in Metro Manila and the forms and mechanism of their adaptatation to the stress of city living. The research was conducted in two settings: first, in their traditional communities (Tongkalang, Sama Laut Village and Sitangkai, Tawi-tawi) and then in Metro manila where their socio-cultural and economic adaptation were observed and noted using the participant observation method and unstructured interview schedules. The research sample is composed of forty Sama Laut families (190 individuals) originating from Sulu, Basilan and Tawi-tawi and Zamboanga City who resided at Sitio Rosario, Baclaran , the reclamation area and along piers twelve and fourteen.
