The need for minority identities in textbooks and curriculum reform

Annotation

This paper argues for an emancipatory multicultural education in the country to promote development, justice, peace and order in the Southern Philippines. Reasons for failure in the past are cited and suggest that reforms must initiate in the entire gamut of the educational process from the curriculum content to pedagogical practices, from the production of school knowledge in the textbook to the institutionalization of policy-making mechanisms that recognize the voices of the Filipino people.
