The paper is divided in three parts: 1.) Social organization: the indigenous structure and political system, 2.) social conflict in an Asian setting, 3.) Marawi City: From Agama to Urban Community. It discusses the socio-political structure and relationships in Maranao society. Slow development in the area could be attributed to the conflict of authority between the traditional and the modern leaders.
