A paper presented at the Paggulal Ceremony in Zamboanga City, Dr. Tan moves for the revival and organization of the Kadatuan as a socio-political system. Describes the datuship as an institution on which the foundation of the Kadatuan as a social sector is established. Also discusses the relevance and importance of this institution throughout Philippine history. Using the basic and primary sources such as the Jawi materials of the Muslim south, i.e. Surat Sug and Surat Kadatuan, to authenticate his description and interpretation, this paper discusses the history, culture and development of this indigenous institution.
