The global economy and the Sulu zone connections, commodities and culture

Annotation

This book is a companion guide to the Sulu Zone also by Warren. A critical, ethnohistorical study, it analyzes the dynamics of a Malayo-Muslim maritime state and its reaction to the world capitalist economy and the rapid advance of colonialism and modernity. This was presented as paper at the International Symposium on Southeast Asia, held at Kyoto International House, October 1996.
