This paper describes the main sources of livelihood of the Maguindanaon, Tausug, Sama, Maranao, and Badjao. It also notes the continued influx of Christian settlers attracted by the favorable agricultural potential of Cotabato. The Christian migrants helped develop Maguindanao settlements through the establishment of infrastructure facilities and more efficient production methods, but their growing presence made them socioeconomic rivals of the Muslims.
