The primary objective of this project is to gather benchmark information on the biology and culture of Ranina ranina. The project aims to thoroughly study the distribution, feeding, breeding and spawning habits of Ranina ranina, locate the spawning grounds and procure egg-bearing crabs in the vicinity of Mindanao and Sulu seas, describe the commercial fisheries in the study area, develop Ranina ranina aquaculture management techniques by understanding the ecological factors that influence their growth and survival, determine the conditions required for the successful hatching of eggs, and determine the suitable food, water and stocking conditions for rearing of larvae, juvenile and broodstock.
