This research is conducted at the Manresa Research Station where rice germplasm from the MASIPAG Program are evaluated. It features MASIPAG rice varieties using no synthetic fertilizer or pesticide, instead chicken dung are applied to attain the maximum yield. Vegetables are also produced at Manresa where compost from waste biomass and animal manure are applied. Nineteen vegetable species are tried applying the usual combination with one or two species. This paper emphasizes the importance of a chemical-free farming and possible reasons for its success are cited namely: appropriate soil resource management, and consistent and firm resolve to eliminate all kinds of pesticides.
