The study aims to gather and analyze forty-five Maranao proverbs to discover different genres or types of proverbs peculiar to Maranao folk literature using the structural and textual criticism for school year 1993-1994. It discusses the characteristics of Maranao proverbs such as rhyme, rhythm, imagery, symbolism, language use-syntax and vocabulary, retention of original structural meaning and of certain images and symbols of the Maranao proverbs in the English version.
