Starch-gum blend as paper additives

Annotation

Native cassava starch to ipil-ipil gum mass ratios of 7:3 (mix 1), 8:2 (mix 2) and 9:1 (mix 3) are prepared into paper making chemicals and their performances as beater additives tested as commercial pulp. The close association of the starch-gum-cellulose molecules through hydrogen bonding can effect an increase in the strength properties of the handsheets at neutral or near alkaline pH.
