Status of the seaweed resources of Panguil Bay is assessed from January-December 1991 as part of the resource and ecological assessment project in the Bay. A total of 105 species of seaweeds are identified broken down into forty-four red, twenty-four brown, twenty-three green, and four blue green algae. A number of species are presently harvested from natural stock, but only Sargassum and Gracilaria are harvested in considerable quantities. Two species of Eucheuma are presently cultivated in the Bay using the floating monoline method.
