The study proposes to recycle plastic beverage bottles made of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) which are discarded as wastes into two valuable organic chemicals: Terephthalic Acid (TPA) and ethylene glycol. The process employed is saponication. The plant is assumed to process 25,000-20,000 waste PET bottles (seventy-five ml size) or a weight of 1000 kg of grin PET to produce approximately 615 kg of TPA and 448 kg of ethylene glycol per day. The plant shall operate for 300 days annually.
