This study investigates the pressure factors along the southern slopes of Mt. Apo with special emphasis on the migration and farming system patterns of the communities of the area. Because of the flow of migrants into Southern Mindanao Agricultural Programme (SMAP) Zone II, forests have shrunk causing intolerable soil loss. The researchers fear that unless checked, such migration might eventually phase out the remaining forest cover of Mt. Apo.
