The primary objective of the study was to survey the literary works of the Yakans and explore their capabilities on writing. It specifically sought to present literary materials in verse and in prose written during the Contemporary Period identified as the eighties (1980 - 1989), and analyze them in terms of subject, form, and point of view. The materials are in the Yakan dialect obtained from pupils, students, farmer, weavers, government officials and religious leaders.
