Annotation

The study on the Maranao society of Lanao show that the Maranaos are not really an uncivilized, blood thirsty, unprincipled people. They have a distinct culture with Arabic influence as evidenced by their dialect religious, inspired by the Koranic teachings and percepts of the Islamic faith, but relatively, they are economically and educationally behind. All sorts of general misconceptions of them exist. Among the recommendations presented is the socioeconomic and educational development of the Muslim region through more roads to penetrate the interior Lanao, more scholars, loans and credit facilities, agricultural extension services, introduction of merchandized farming, and enforcement of the Tenancy Law. Further discussion of the trends of Maranao culture is also suggested.
