This article deals with various Muslim anxieties and expectations arising from the 1973 Constitutional Convention. It calls attention to the particularly sensitive area of land titling to signify private ownership of specific pieces of land by individuals under the Torrens system. This system of land tenure disregards the principle of ancestral domain underlying the pusaka or the traditional land tenure system of the Maguindanaon.
