Lifecycle and the supernatural in selected Maranao folktales

Annotation

Identifies, describes and examines closely, the cultural patterns embodied in selected Maranao folktales, and relates the significance of these patterns to the present Maranao social practices and beliefs in the supernatural. It also analyses archetypal symbols used to delineate existing cultural patterns including prevalent lifestyle patterns such as birth, courtship and marriage, death and burial, as well as the implications and transcendental manifestations into everyday Maranao social practices.
