Islamic institutions among the Tausugs in the Philippines

Annotation

The study attempts to find out how far the Muslims of Southern Philippines, (the Tausugs of the Sulu archipelago in particular) follow Islamic value system as embodied in their daily life and institutions, and to what extent they are being influenced by other cultural matrices. It finds that the Tausugs in the Sulu archipelago are relatively backward in religious matters compared to Muslims of Southeast Asian countries.
