The Iranun are primarily concentrated along Illana Bay coast, north of the mouth of the Pulangi River all the way to Sibugay Bay in Zamboanga del Sur. This paper presents their historical background and bold resistance to domination by the colonizers. It describes and presents the text of the Iranun Bayok with English translation. Iranun traditional Bayok has been used as medium of oral communication in the old Iranun community playing a vital role in their folklore and also in the documentation of their history. It is in the form of folktales, songs and proverbs performed by the experts in bayuk.
