The study reveals that among the F1 single crosses, B x C, B x D, C x F, B x E, E x F, A x D, D x F and C x E obtain relatively high mean yields, high relative heterosis and heterobeltiosis, and exhibit the best specific cross combinations. As such, they prove to be good breeding materials for the development of hybrids. Inbred parents, E and B, which show earlier maturity, are found as good general combiners. They are used as parents in three of the eight top yielding crosses. These inbred lines show potential for synthetic formation, population improvement, and further crop improvement activities.
