The study aims to: (1) to collect, evaluate and maintain a pool of genetypes of the different fiber crops that will serve as a ready source of planting materials or parental genotypes for specific breeding and seed multiplication projects, (2) to identify promising varieties of the different fiber crops, and (3) to serve as show window to the academe and other interested groups. The fiber crops collection included maguey, pineapple, pandan, sansiviera, ramie, jute, salago, abaca, cotton, coconut, mulberry and kapok.
