The Genebank aims to duplicate whatever collection is found in other government and private agencies particularly those that were found in areas frequently and severely visited by typhoons. Collection was evaluated for yield, diseases, pest and other horticultural characters. From 1979 to 1986, the center had a collection of eighty-one clones established in the Genebank with thirty hills each. Others are still in the nursery.
