A report on the findings of a survey relevant to the group status hypothesis which states that high fertility is a function of minority group status (Balacuit, 1981). The survey was designed to explore the objection of a Muslim minority group to the Philippine Family Planning Program, the study provides an opportunity for pursuing the methodological issue raised by Lacar (1974). Specifically, it includes a question which can verify the underlying assumption of the hypothesis that minority group members use political reasons for their opposition to fertility control.
