A research that delves more on the subject of Filipino familism, the central value of Philippine society. It is characterized by obligatory mutual assistance, filial piety and loyalty, strong bonds with one's family orientation and procreation, interdependence and assumption of obligations to every known kin to come for help in times of need. Findings show that Muslims register higher familism compared to Christians. However, both reject the idea of housing and sheltering their elderly parents in institutions. Intersystemic consequence of schooling on the values of familism is similar to both except that the impact among Christians is more pronounced than among the Muslims.
