Extent of adoption of recommended tobacco farming practices among Maguindanaon farmers

Annotation

Out of thirty-four detailed recommended tobacco-farming practices, only twelve are "always" adopted by Maguindanaon farmers. These are burning plant residue, watering in the morning, seedling must be free from weeds, seedlings must be replanted and spaced at five cm in another bed with shelter, harrowing, furrowing, transplanting, manual insect pest control, chemical insect pest control, cultivation 10-14 days transplanting, cultivation at fourteen-day interval and air curing. Few of them encounter problems such as lack of work animals, lack of farm implements, low harvest, lack of capital, and delay of payment of debt incurred by borrowers.
