Development of improved varieties of tomato thru hybridization and selection

Annotation

This research develops a technology that provides assurance to our farmers of a profitable farming and motivates multinationals to invest on tomato processing venture in the region. This technology solves the problems on susceptibility to bacterial wilt and foliage diseases of tomato varieties, declining yield, high variability to fruit sizes and poor quality fruits. A recommended 120-150-120 kg/ha fertilizer treatment and a planting distance of forty cm. between hills and 120 cm. between rows, transplanted 22-30 days from germination are used in this technology.
