The study generates one hundred eighty inbred lines of various stages. These inbreds were extract from different sources (commercial hybrids, OPVs and different CIMMYT maize lines). Twenty-five F1 single cross hybrids, G4 C5B and 64 C6B of broad-based yellow corn populations, thirty-six S4 lines derived from USM Var 5 were evaluated. The National Seed Industry Council has approved USMARC 99149 (USM Var 9) as a new USM variety while USMARC 2011 is still under further test.
